This is a collection of print, digital and outdoor board advertisements I collaborated on for the 2015 and 2016 Lights Before Christmas Campaign for The Toledo Zoo. The year 2015 was extra special for the zoo as they celebrated their 30th Annual Lights Before Christmas, while 2016 had news of its own, being voted Best Zoo Lights by USA TODAY 10 Best Readers' Choice - 2016. Both of these campaigns were designed to promote community involvement and participation in the Lights Before Christmas event. Each year The Toledo Zoo is decorated from top to bottom with flashing lights to the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. There are events all thought-out the holiday season, from Christmas carolers to ice slides or bumper cars on ice, even visits from Santa! Going to the Lights each year is a tradition for most of the locals and both these campaigns were designed to evoke that family filled tradition and fun.
For me being a graphic designer means being able to create something that tells a story. Storytelling is what I love most about design and what drives me to create. In todays world we are constantly surrounded by images so when a company or product is able to tell their message and stand out as different purely through good branding, something beautiful is made, their brand story.
