This was a series of brochures I created for Jobs Ohio. This project was to make a set of strategic brochures for the main business sectors currently in Ohio (Automotive, Advanced Manufacturing, Data Centers, IT, and Financial Services). The design was to be informational and eye catching, done by incorporating large colorful images and original graphic icons to help the reader retain the large amount of facts thought out each brochure. Jobs Ohio target audience in part was current business owners, to inform them of the resources Ohio may offer to better their specific business sector other states might not have. However, their main target audience was young millennia’s looking for employment. They wanted to infrom local millennia’s in the area or entice young adults to move to the area for employment. Their strategy was to sell what Ohio gives its residents; “a unique access to low-cost, high-quality living with safe communities, excellent schools, and the opportunity to live under a modern cityscape or on an open countryside. With professional sports teams from every major sport, the opportunities to celebrate rich cultural heritage, and vibrant art communities, there’s something here for any lifestyle. So whoever you are, you can feel right at home here in Ohio.” These brochures were designed to capture a mix of both young millennia’s and more established business owners.
For me being a graphic designer means being able to create something that tells a story. Storytelling is what I love most about design and what drives me to create. In todays world we are constantly surrounded by images so when a company or product is able to tell their message and stand out as different purely through good branding, something beautiful is made, their brand story.
One of my favorite ways to tell a story is through graphic illustrations. Whether I create it through traditional means or by digitally drawing on a computer, I find the use of illustrations powerful, because it allows me to convey a particular effect with a mix of colors, graphics and drawings.
